Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of individuals within the forensic unit; evaluate the mental health status, risk factors, and treatment needs of patients involved in legal proceedings.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, considering both psychiatric and legal aspects.
- Work collaboratively with legal professionals, court officials, and mental health staff to provide expert psychiatric input.
- Contribute to the development of risk management strategies in collaboration with the treatment team.
- Advocate for the mental health needs of patients within the forensic system; provide support and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and legal processes.
Requirements
- Medical degree and completion of residency in psychiatry.
- Board certification in psychiatry.
- State medical license and eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
- Experience in forensic psychiatry, including court testimony preferred.
