Leapfrog Grade A Hospital Seeking Team-Oriented Assistant Nurse Manager

This Magnet-designated medical center is looking for a medical critical care ANM. The MICU generally cares for hospitalized patients with various conditions, including patients from ​​ED admissions, floor transfers, and OSH transfers. An ideal Assistant Nurse Manager will organize patient care plans, promote compassionate, evidence-based nursing and work to increase the overall patient experience.

The Medical ICU Assistant Nurse Manager will have a patient-first mindset with proven experience improving nurse retention, job satisfaction, and teamwork.

Responsibilities of the MICU, Medical ICU Assistant Nurse Manager, Critical care :
  • Oversee 30-bed MICU service line, including pulmonary ICU cases such as GI, lung, and respiratory patients
  • Supervise 80+ MICU staff including Charge Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Critical Care Educators
  • Report to the Director and Manager of MICU to improve span of control and access to support from leadership throughout unit 
  • Collaborate with Charge Nurses and Specialists to develop relationships with staff, assist in acclimation to the environment, and drive initiatives based on staff feedback
  • Organize continued training programs and resources with Nurse Educators to encourage and facilitate staff development in the management of acute medical conditions
  • Assist staff in daily interdisciplinary rounds with unit medical, surgical, and neuro intensivists
  • Assist nursing staff in developing individualized care plans customized for patients, such as ED admits, floor transfers, and OSH transfers
  • Collaborate across departments, including trauma medical crisis and specialty intensive care units, to ensure high-quality and cost-effective care to all patients
  • Ensure compliance throughout the MICU floor following organizations such as The Joint Commission 
  • Compassionately communicate with patients and families on treatments and health updates

Requirements for the MICU, Medical ICU Assistant Nurse Manager, Critical care :
  • Associates Degree required; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio
  • 2+ years of ICU, critical care, Medical ICU nursing experience
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN Critical Care Registered Nurse certification
  • 1+ years experience in nurse leadership is a plus
